ACCOLADES AND AWARDS

Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, by means of its Moot Court Society (M.C.S.) and its Parents-Teachers Association (P.T.A.), has consistently promoted and encouraged the participation of its students in National Moot Court Competitions, Trial Advocacy Competitions, ADR Competitions, Legal Quiz Competitions and presentation of papers in International and National Seminars. Participation in these events are especially encouraged as it enables students to engage with and think deeply about interesting and topical legal issues, to enhance their advocacy, legal research and writing skills, to work closely with and learn from their peers, and to demonstrate their interest in advocacy and competence as an advocate to prospective employers. It also helps them to connect and socialize with people across the country.

 

2018

Two students of Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram secured the Best Paper Award (Undergraduate) and Second Best Paper Award (Undergraduate) in the International Interdisciplinary Seminar on Realization of Human Rights in the Globalized World held by the Department of Law, Central University of Kerala, Thiruvalla Campus, on 4-6 January, 2018.


At the XVIII T.S. Venkateswara Iyer Memorial Moot Court Competition 2018 organised by His Highness Maharajas Government Law College, Ernakulam on 2-4 February, 2018, a team consisting of three students representing Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram bagged the Best Memorial Title and Second Best Advocate Title.


A student of Government Law College, Thiruvanthapuram’s was adjudged as the Second Runner-up and as the Best Female Student Advocate in the 38th All India Moot Court Competition [Single Speaker Competition] conducted by Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Puducherry on 6-8 April, 2019.


The titles of Best Female Advocate and the Winning Title in the Judgement Writing Competition in the First Jus Lex National Trial Advocacy and Judgment Writing Competition 2018 conducted by Saveetha School of Law, Chennai on 31 st August – 2 nd September, 2018, was awarded to a posse comprising of three students from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram.


A party of three students of Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram emerged as Winners in the Aleternate Dispute Resolution Competition conducted by Government Law College Kozhikode as part of their law fest NOMIKOS POLEMOS on 21st November, 2018.


At the National Mega Moot Competition 2018 conducted by Saveetha School of Law, Chennai on November 30 th – December 2 nd , 2018, a group comprising of three students from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram won the Runners-up Position and the Best Memorial Award.


A team consisting of four students secured the First Prize for the Legal Quiz Competition conducted by Kerala Law Secretariat Association on 17 th December, 2018.

 

2019


The Runners-up position in the 2nd Mrinalini Devi Memorial National Moot Court Competition conducted by Bengal Law College, Shantiniketan on 4-6 January, 2019, was bagged by a team consisting of three students representing Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram.


A student of Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram was adjudged as the Best Researcher in the XIX All India Moot Court Competition for Adv. T. S. Venkateswara Iyer Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy 2019 held at Government Law College Ernakulam on 25-27 January, 2019.


At the International Interdisciplinary Seminar on Internationalisation of Human Rights and Changing Dimensions of Fundamental Rights conducted by Department of Law, Central University Kerala on 7-9 February, 2019, the Best Paper Award was awarded to a student of Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram.


A student of Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram emerged as the Runner-up Best Presenter in the Fourth Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon SAARCLAW Students' Conference 2018-19 organised by Lloyd Law College, Noida on 15-18 February, 2019.


The titles of Second Best Memorial and the Second Best Researcher in 11th All India Moot Court Competition for Justice T. Ramachandran Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy organized by Government Law College, Thrissur on 1-3 March, 2019, was won by a posse comprising of three students from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram.


At the International Interdisciplinary Conference on Emerging Trends in Constitution conducted by Saveetha School of Law, Chennai on 15 th March, 2019, a student of Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram secured the Award for the Best Research Paper.


The Winner Award and the Best Advocate Award in the 6th National Trial Advocacy Competition Lex Fortissimus conducted by Bangalore Institute of Law on 12-14 April, 2019 was won by a party of three students of Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram.


A group comprising of three students from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram emerged as the Runners-up in the 2 nd Dr. Jeppiar Memorial All India Womens Moot 2019 conducted by Dr.Ambedkar Government Law College, Pondicherry on 26-28 April, 2019.

 

 

GOLD MEDALS

Shri Malloor K. Govinda Pillai Gold Medal for Law (Criminal Law) 
Given to the student securing highest marks for Paper-Il Law of Crimes and Paper-IV Part-II, Cr. P. C. together. He should pass the LL.B. at the first attempt in the minimum period prescribed.

 
Sachithovathama Shashtiabdhapurthi Memorial Prize

Given to the student who passes the first LL. B. examination in the minimum period prescribed and scoring the highest mark. 
 
Prakulam C. Padmanabha Pillai Memorial Law Prize
Given to the candidate securing highest mark in the LL. B. examinations, He should pass all the examinations at the first appearance and within the minimum period prescribed. Amount - British rupees 1000
  
M.S. Menon Gold Medal

Given to the candidate securing highest mark in the LL. B. examinations, He should pass all the examinations at the first appearance and within the minimum period prescribed.
